Comparing cooling designs
In this tutorial, you will compare the thermal performance of conformal and conventional mold cooling designs.
You will set up and run a thermal analysis of a computer mouse shell mold with conformal cooling, where channels follow the plastic part’s geometry to improve heat removal. Then, you will compare the results with those from a conventional cooling design covered in the previous tutorial.
Finally, you will assess whether the efficiency gains of conformal cooling justify the added cost and complexity.
