Viewing results

The results page allows you to view and explore the thermal analysis results of your job after its simulation is completed.

Thermal result types

Use the Display Mode options on the right panel of the results page to select one of the following thermal analysis results to view in the display window:

  • Local freeze time distribution on the plastic part to identify areas with longer cooling times.
  • Surface and volume temperature distribution on the plastic part to locate heat concentration areas and potential hot spots.
  • Volume temperature distribution on the mold to evaluate cooling efficiency. You can display temperature results on all the components of individual mold groups.

Understanding freeze time

SimForm computes the local freeze time distribution on the plastic part and the global freeze time range. The freeze time, or safe ejection time, is the duration required for a plastic part to develop a solidified layer thick enough for safe ejection.

Local freeze time
The time, in seconds, required for 20% of the local part thickness to drop below the safe ejection temperature.
Global freeze time
The time, in seconds, required for 99% to 99.5% of the plastic to reach a safe temperature for ejection.

Display options

On the results page, you can also:

  • Click on any part of a component to display the local results for that selection.
  • Display the cooling channels to assess the impact of their placement on thermal results.
  • Inspect the global flow rate values of the cooling channels to evaluate the cooling system efficiency.
  • Use the cutting plane options to explore internal temperature distributions and locate critical temperature zones.
  • Filter the plastic part by temperature to identify areas exceeding a specified threshold.
  • Adjust the result scale by setting custom minimum and maximum values in the legend settings.
  • Select a specific time step to observe thermal results at different simulation times.
  • Compare thermal results across multiple solved jobs using the compare jobs option.
