Running a basic mold analysis
In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up, solve, and interpret results of a basic mold analysis.
Define the basic mold
Define the size and mold material of the basic mold. The SimForm solver considers the effect of the mold size and material properties on part quality and cooling time estimations.

  Use SimForm to perform thermal cooling analyses for your plastic injection mold designs. These analyses help you identify hot spots on the plastic part and develop cooling layouts to improve part quality and reduce cycle times.

Define the basic mold

Define the size and mold material of the basic mold. The SimForm solver considers the effect of the mold size and material properties on part quality and cooling time estimations.

Enable the Use Basic Mold mode.

SimForm generates a rectangular mold around your plastic part.
In the Basic Mold panel, keep the default mold dimensions.
Expand the Select Material list and select P20 Mold Steel to define the basic mold material.
Click hide to hide the basic mold and display the plastic part for categorization.
