- Injection molding overview
  Use SimForm to perform thermal cooling analyses for your plastic injection mold designs. These analyses help you identify hot spots on the plastic part and develop cooling layouts to improve part quality and reduce cycle times.

      Define the size and mold material of the basic mold. The SimForm solver considers the effect of the mold size and material properties on part quality and cooling time estimations.

      Categorize your plastic part components so the solver can identify them. You will then define their materials.

      Start the solving process.

      Display the freeze time and the temperature distribution on the plastic and mold parts to locate regions where you can improve the cooling design and optimize the cooling time.

Create a job

Create a job in an existing project and upload the mouse shell design.

Log in to SimForm.
In the Projects page, open the Mouse shell project you created for a previous tutorial.
If you did not create a Mouse shell project, use the following procedure to create a new Tooling Evaluation Project, then proceed to the step 3.
From the Jobs panel, click add to open the Add a New Job window.
When you create a new project, the Add a New Job window opens automatically.
In the Add a New Job window, in the Job Name box, type Basic mold analysis.
Click delete to remove the CAD file from the previous job.
Click Select Files, navigate to your part file folder, select mouse_shell.x_t, and click Open.
Click Add to create a new job.

Note:

Do not refresh the page until all CAD parts are fully loaded as it interrupts the process and prevents the model from loading.

The display window shows the uploaded mold design.
