Defining mold properties
Defining mold properties based on your analysis type ensures that the SimForm solver correctly identifies the mold components in your CAD model and considers their material properties in the thermal analysis.

You must categorize your mold components and define their materials to allow the SimForm app solver to identify them.

Define the mold for a channel assessment job

You must categorize your mold components and define their materials to allow the SimForm app solver to identify them.

In the display window, select a mold component.
You can select the components individually or use Ctrl-click to select multiple components of the same type.
In a Mold Group card, click add to assign the component as a part of the mold.
Each time you add a component, the number of categorized elements is updated so that you can track the categorization of your model.

You can click expand to view the list of categorized components for verification. You can click remove to remove a categorized component to correct it.
Click hide to hide the categorized components.

Hiding the categorized components allows you to verify that all your components are correctly categorized and to identify components that are not yet categorized.
Repeat the steps 1-3 to categorize all the relevant components as mold components of the same mold group.
(Optional) Click Mold Group to add additional mold groups as needed.
(Optional) Repeat steps 1 to 4 to categorize all mold components in contact with the plastic as mold groups.
You must categorize all components in contact with the plastic such as the mold core, cavity, sprue bushing, and ejector pins, as part of one of the mold groups to ensure accurate temperature results. Not including them in the analysis removes a source of cooling that distorts the temperature results and the cooling time estimation.
In each Mold Group card, expand the Select Material list and select a material from the list or click Add Material to create a custom material.
