Define manufacturing constraints

Specify the manufacturing parameters of your mold in a channel recommender job to ensure that the generated cooling regions are feasible for real-world manufacturing.

A channel recommender job with an uploaded plastic part design.

  1. In the Manufacturing Constraints card, in the Water Temperature box, type the inlet cooling temperature value, for example, 20 °C.
You can keep the default value if it matches your cooling system conditions or you do not know what it should be.
  2. In the Minimum Channel Distance box, type the spacing in mm between cooling channels and the plastic part, for example, 25 mm.
You can keep the default value to maintain a safe minimum distance for manufacturability.
  3. In the Channel Radius box, type the radius of the cooling channels in mm, for example, 4 mm.
You can keep the default radius if it fits your intended manufacturing process.
